Internet 101 - About Hosting...![]()
When we talk about internet hosting, we look at it like a caterer for a corporate banquet. Not everyone likes sushi. Not everyone is a carnivore and not everyone comes to eat.
Sure, we put together a generic menu like all those other caterers, ah, we mean hosting companies, but keep in mind, those menus may only tell you half the story.
Of course throughout this whole process we do only make suggestions that are viable and actually could be made to work.
No Surprise - When we make suggestions, we actually make you think about things that you may not have thought about before. This is most crucial as this is exactly what can make or break a relationship. We do not like to back end you after the fact by doing the old "nickel and dime-ing you to death".
No Lock - We do not force you into any long term contract unless you demand it. Sounds crazy, but it's for real. And for good reason too. Not to bore you with details, but one example or reason for this might be; tactics required for proper SEO and SEM do not allow for such shenanigans to get in the way, and may actually cost you for a long time after the fact.
Some important aspects that you really need to consider are two things that can make or break your endeavors from the start:
- Domain Name and its registration...
- DNS (Domain Name Services) and the impact this will have...
And finally to answer that question at the very top. It is common to announce 99.8% uptime. Just about every ISP, hosting company, ASP any any other acronym you can think of state that same statistic. It's really silly actually, because that 0.2% down time, is exactly when you least need it. It's called Murphy's Law. There are ways to actually achieve a fraction short of 100%, but this does require you to take action, not the provider.
